David Slobe expert bricklayer
The story of David Slobe all started in 1969 when he was born in Mokopane, Limpopo.  David went to school in Lyttleton where he aspired as a student and had big dreams for the future.  Unlike all the other students David wanted to become an electrician, but due to unforeseen circumstances and the precarious economic stance of South-Africa at the time David's parents did not have sufficient means to send him to university or even a college to attain a diploma. Despite the latter David found inspiration from his uncle who became a bricklayer at a young age.

David's journey to success started at the age of eight when his uncle began to  teach him the art of brick laying.  At first David started of small through building garden walls while he was still in school, however in 1983 his career took off when he started working at Jaco's construction.  He started as a bricklayer and worked himself up through the ranks to where he is today, an expert bricklayer and foreman of Jaco's construction.  David was very motivated to get a degree in construction so he worked hard to earn money to pay for his college education. The year was 1999 when his hard work paid off and he got his diploma in construction.

Over the years David has had ample opportunities and gained so much experience that he is now responsible for the foundation of the site, site clearance as well as site establishment.  He is also a mentor for young and aspiring bricklayers who often come to him to ask for advice regarding bricklaying techniques and other construction related topics.

Even though David is 46 years old and an experienced bricklayer, he still wants to broaden his horizon by gaining experience as an electrician.  David inspires lots of his co-workers, through his example, to reach for their dreams by working hard and showing dedication and in the process to help and teach others.

One of the questions posed to David during his interview was why he chose the building profession ?  He replied that he experienced everybody's desire to build houses but due to shortage of skilled labor in the industry multiple companies were not able to comply with the market demand.  The available labor in the market at the time did not have sufficient experience in his line of work which gave rise to his opportunity.

With the insight of David me and my colleagues  discovered that it is not mere book knowledge and long hours of studying that leads to success, but hard work, dedication and drive which is fueled by a hart that has passion for what he does.
