THE STORY ABOUT JIMMY, THE DAGA MIXER
As my fellow group members and I enter the site we have chosen, we are greeted by confused and unfamiliar faces. On the far left end is a man smiling, listening to music and happily mixing DAGA - which is the role he plays in the process of working on site. Jimmy. Jimmy is a hard working man, DAGA mixer, husband and father. The Capetonian approached us with an eagerness to share his "story". Jimmy was born in 1981, in Cape Town. After he matriculated in 1999, he moved to Alexandra Town, Gauteng- where he started off as a delivery man. As time progressed Jimmy and his wife had their first child. At this point he was on the search for a new and more rewarding job, so that he can provide for his family. Although Jimmy is not educated in this particular field of work, he is a skilled worker. He learned and keeps on learning through experience - which he considers the best way of learning. Jimmy is a vibrant person, who clearly gets along with his fellow workers. He enjoys his job and uses his family as motivation.
