Skanya's story of how he started until where he is now at this moment
Friday 13 Febuary 2015 the story of how Skanya became a concrete Supervisor
Skanya started his working career as a miner near Secunda in 2003.After the mine closed skanyas construction career began as n scaffold supervisor.
After his first project he moved to Pretoria where he started working on bigger projects. Skanyas mentor Julian Ellan who always encouraged him and sent him on training courses where he specialized in concrete.
Skanya is currently working at GD.IRONS were he takes big responsibility as concrete supervisor and is trusted by management to see that the work is done according to the specifications. This causes him to work long daily hours and even longer hours now because they are behind schedule.
The biggest challenges he faces daily is the long hours the concrete takes to set and to ensure that the concrete levels are right. He must also ensure that all the work done by the concrete layers is correct.
According to Skanya the safety regulations on site are not up to standard compared to the mine where he previously worked. A few incidents have happened during his construction career were safety regulations were not followed and implemented correctly.
Skanya is a bright young man who is able to communicate to his fallow workers as well as management to ensure sufficient work.
NOT HIS REAL NAME!!
Construction 4 life.
