The story of Charles Mokgoba started in 1982 when he was born in Malawi. His passion for construction started at the early age of only six years old. He immediately decided that he wanted to specify in bricklaying.  At first bricklaying was just something he did to keep himself busy, but  what started out as a hobby turned into his daily bread and butter. His strong passion for bricklaying made him a tremendously successful worker and he feels that any child with a passion should chase their dreams.

He finished school and university and thereafter worked for two construction companies in Malawi. He then travelled to South Africa to make a bigger success of his career. In South Africa he worked for twelve different companies before settling down with LJ-construction. Charles also has hidden talents such as window posturing, plastering and tiling which helps him to achieve more in his career.
Charles describes himself as a loyal and hard working man  with the ability to change the construction industry of today.

Charles says he is inspired by his current foreman and site manager to do and achieve more in his career. He is very proud of his work and he loves to share new ideas with his fellow bricklayers. He also believes that bricklaying is a art and without patience a building site would be a mess.

According to Charles there are a number of challenges that a bricklayer faces every day. Probably the biggest challenge is the weather. Rain can delay  a building site for days on end. Delays like this impacts the time period of the construction as well as the pay of the workers. According to Charles the weather is his biggest fear because he loses money that he needs so dearly. Charles says that the biggest change in his career so far was his salary. He believes that a good salary is what keeps the young and upcoming bricklayers motivated.

Charles has motivated our whole group and we now know that we can chase our dreams and that you are never to young to think big.
